Kari's Law
Kari's Law has 2 main parts.
1. Kari's Law requires those operating multi-line telephone systems (MLTS) to allow dialing 911 without a prefix.
Votacall One supports this functionality without any customer intervention or programming.
2. Kari's law requires a notification to be sent to an internal central location that 911 has been dialed.
Votacall One supports this functionality by default, but the Customer is responsible for setting and updating the location in the My Votacall administrator portal.
RAY BAUM's Act
RAY BAUM's Act requires all MLTS systems to support the delivery of "dispatchable locations" when making a 911 call. This simply means that when a 911 call is placed, the system also delivers the location of the caller to the 911 operator.
What is STIR/SHAKEN?
STIR stands for Secure Telephony Identity Revisited
SHAKEN stands for Secure Handling of Asserted information using toKENs
STIR/SHAKEN is a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandated protocol requiring voice providers to authenticate and digitally certify the caller ID information on outbound calls. Prior to STIR/SHAKEN, a bad actor could easily spoof the caller ID of a legitimate business to trick end users into answering spam calls. STIR/SHAKEN is a key weapon in the fight against illegal and unwanted robocalls.
Votacall One digitally certifies all calls originating on our network under STIR/SHAKEN and have met all requirements to be listed in the FCC Robocall Mitigation Database.
